Scoutmasters Minute - April 7 /08, Going with the flow Options

Sometimes things don’t always work out as you plan. When that happens you just need to adjust your plan. Last Monday we had three more scouts here. That is when you decided on hot dogs. I also got a call to expect one more scout. That would have made four more scouts here tonight. I bought enough hot dogs and buns for all scouts. When four scouts did not show you reduced the amount of hot dogs you cooked. You were supposed to cook those hot dogs on the open fire. After going to several stores in our area, I was unable to buy any fire wood. Instead I had to bring charcoal for you to use. This also adjusted your plan for tonight, but in the end we all had hot dogs and a lot of fun. We needed water to put out the remaining charcoal. It was too hard to get water from the BVYA bathroom. The first fountain you tried did not work, but you continued on your path until you were able to find water to put out the charcoal.


All of these minor changes did not interrupt our meeting. Instead we changed as we went along, not letting the changes bother us. It is a beautiful night tonight and we all had fun out here. I am glad that we were able to enjoy this beautiful weather out here together. I am glad that we are able to adapt to the situation. Life is like that. You never know what will come up or how your day may change from your original plan. Be prepared and do your best. Make the most out of every day and have fun doing it.
